Quickies At Venus

As fashionable gals (and guys) know, sometimes you just don’t have the time to run all the way back home to touch up your look before a big event.

Venus Beauty Boutique in Traverse City feels your pain and they’ve got the solution: Venus Quickies. You and your disheveled look will be grateful this new service is here.

"We were discussing adding some new things to Venus and we all got to talking about how we’d love to be able to go somewhere to get fast touchups before an event or dinner," explained Manager Giovanna Infante, who worked closely with Venus President Susan Ruoff and Marketing Manager Corrina Leete on the new venture. "We took that concept and ran with it starting this past January," Infante added, "and our customers thought it was amazing."

It’s so amazing that Venus has added it to their services list, along with a new fullservice menu that they’ll be debuting in mid-March.

How do the Quickies work? "Well, we tried to approach it with "˜if we only had 15 minutes at home, what would we do?’" Infante said.

The answer was some very simple, inexpensive things that add a whole lot of polish, especially when you’ve got a pro stylist on your side.

For $15 each, you get 15 minutes of these mini sets of Venus services for "maximum impact in minimum time."

The Hair Quickie includes using a curling iron or flat iron to boost curls or waves, touch-ups on windblown hair – "especially important in this snowy, rainy weather!" Infante said – pinning up strays from a loose updo, taming bangs or fluffing a flat top, all given a final sheen with hair shine or hairspray.

The Nails Quickie will smooth out a ragged edge or two, fix chipped nail polish, buff nails or touch up nail polish color (no toes, please) along with a swipe of cuticle oil and hand lotion.

The Makeup Quickie includes touching-up smudged eye shadow and mascara, curling lashes, color for cheeks and lips and toning down that unwanted shine. "That one we like to call "˜a refresher for your complexion,’ Infante said.

The service has already proven popular, with people taking advantage of it especially toward the evening hours.

"We expect a lot more people will be coming in for the Quickies in the summer, especially after being out all day in the sun and having beach hair," Infante said.

Venus has made it easy to have a beauty emergency. All three Quickies, easily accessible from a special chair and beauty station at the front of the salon, are available during Venus’ regular business hours, with no appointment needed.

"The idea is that you can just walk in and say, "˜Beauty S.O.S. – help!’" Infante laughed.
