Dine Somewhere New!

Restaurant weeks are de rigueur in big cities, and since northern Michigan is becoming a food mecca, with an diverse assortment of dining destinations for every budget and palate, what better way to show off one of its city’s cafes, grills, fine dining establishments and sandwich stops than with a restaurant week of its own?

“Restaurant Week is hosted in all the great dining cities in the U.S.,” said Patrick Faylor, general manager of Petoskey’s Palette Bistro and a member of the local Wine Guys Restaurant Group. “We know that Petoskey belongs in that circle, with all the great restaurants we have here.”

DELICIOUS DEALS

Started by the Wine Guys, there are two Petoskey Restaurant Weeks, one in May and one in October.

Each week offers a slate of special threecourse meals at a range of participating restaurants, all available for the full Restaurant Week. This fall’s offerings carry a price point of $15 for lunch and $25 for dinner, plus some additional 2-for-1 specials at selected restaurants.

“It’s a great value,” Faylor said. Nikki Devitt of the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce pointed out that the benefit of Petoskey Restaurant Week for both residents and visitors is a simple one.

“It’s a great opportunity for people in the area to discover new restaurants, and we like the fact that we get to see a lot of new faces,” she said. “We have 16 restaurants participating this round and some are probably ones the locals haven’t even tried yet!”

AUTUMN VALUES

While you can still order from the regular menu at most participating restaurants during Restaurant Week, you probably won’t want to miss the fantastic deals and meals being offered.

“These encourage guests who haven’t tried a particular restaurant to go see what they have to offer,” Faylor said.

The majority of the fixed-price menus include an appetizer, entrée and dessert; you add your choice of beverages and gratuity (taxes not included).

Reservations are encouraged, walk-ins are appreciated, but no matter how you arrive, you’re sure to be welcome, as these restaurants strive to show off their very best.

“I appreciate that people choose to come to our restaurant for the first time and put us to the test during Restaurant Week,” Faylor said. “Fall is such a beautiful time in northern Michigan and this extra business strengthens Petoskey as a dining destination.” The fall edition of Petoskey Restaurant Week runs October 16–23.
