About the Community Foundation

Nov. 20, 2015

The Cleo M. Purdy Endowment for Education and Families is just one of the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation’s numerous charitable charges.

“Our unique role is to partner with donors and nonprofits, matching donor passion with purpose through grant awards,” said Alison Metiva, GTRCF director of community relations. “Through the Community Foundation, [donors’] gifts will impact lives in our region now and forever.”

Last year, 15 percent of the foundation’s grantmaking supported youth and early childhood programs, and 16 percent supported education programs. GTRCF awards $160,000-worth of scholarships annually from 80 unique funds.

• Boys and Girls Club Endowment — Supports a variety of organizations providing programs and services that align with the mission of the Boys and Girls Club.

• Assisting Children’s Education Endowment — Supports classrooms within the TCAPS district, specifically enhancements and enrichment that teachers bring to their classrooms.
