Racers: Rev up for the Pintwood Derby
Remember those happy days of youth, competing in the Cub Scout’s Pinewood
Derby with a homemade, gravity-powered race car?
No? Well, now is your chance to get a taste of what you missed with the
Pintwood Derby racing series at the Right Brain Brewery in TC’s Warehouse
District between Jan. 27-April 14.
Like the original Pinewood Derby created by Cubmaster Don Murphy in 1953,
competitors will construct their very own RBB Pintwood Derby car out of a
block of wood (pine), plastic wheels and metal axles and then race it on
our gravity powered race track.
Racers ages 21 and up can register solo or on a team of up to four people
for a chance to build and race a RBB Pintwood Derby car.  Races will take
place at Right Brain Brewery, located in the Warehouse District, every
Wednesday night beginning at 7 p.m. beginning January 27.  Each race will
count for points toward The RBB Beer Cup series championship.  In
addition, weekly cash prizes will be awarded.
The event is co-partnered by Tjc Design Studio (which is creating the race
track) and Targeted Reach. Car kits are available at the Right Brain for
$25. Race fees are $5 per week. For the rules & regs, go to
www.RightBrainBrewery.com.
