Bonos Doppelganger Makes a Movie
Comedy-drama film Killing Bono, the movie version of the Neil McCormick
memoir I Was Bonos Doppelganger that chronicles the lives of two
schoolmate brothers who left U2 before they hit the big time, is set for
release this April, and will actually include a song from U2s veeeeery
early days, back when they were still called The Hype and when The
Edges brother, Dik Evans, was still in the band (which is now, of course,
a four-piece.) The tune, Street Mission, will also be on the movies
soundtrack, alongside songs sung by Irish singer-songwriter Joe Echo and
the two actors who portray brothers Neil and Ivan McCormick in the movie,
Ben Barnes and Robert Sheehan
British buzz band Mumford and Sons, still enjoying the residence of
their album, Sigh No More, in the top 20 a year after its release,
recently told MTV news that theyre already working on songs for their
sophomore set, and in fact spent some time in Nashville, Tennessee
recently working on new music, which they plan to tour first and record
later after they see how the crowds respond to the new material. If
youve yet to hear the reasons why theyre being called a buzz band
these days, just keep your ears open for singles The Cave and Little
Lion Man on radio
The already (of course) well established Dave Matthews Band are set to
host a quartet of music festivals this summer to celebrate their 20th year
anniversary as a band, with DMB in each festivals headlining spot and a
variety of other bands taking up the day long schedule of acts. No cities
have been confirmed as of yet, but June 24-26 are set for the Northeast
run, July 8-10 will be when the DMB-helmed fest hits the Midwest, and
other geographical locales are set to be announced soon
And even more established than DMB may be The Cars, who are prepping their
bands first new album in over two dozen years. The new Cars set, titled
Move Like This, was recorded by most of The Cars original lineup - Ric
Ocasek, David Robinson, Elliot Easton, and Greg Hawkes (Benjamin Orr
passed in 2000) - and they all get a little help from standout producer
Jacknife Lee, who produced half of the album, while the band themselves
produced the other half. A tour is not planned to promote the new album,
but frontman Ocasek told the press that they might do a couple of shows
