Got Foo? Get It at a Theater Near You
Foo Fighters revealed their documentary at SXSW (the South by Southwest Fest) last week, and now the masses will be able to view the bands latest film project. Back and Forth, as the doc is titled, will now be showcased in theaters across the country, starting with a series of special screenings on April 5 during which the film will screen and will be followed by the broadcast of a live performance by the Foos themselves, who will perform their new album, Wasting Light, which hits stores on April 12
Are they or arent they? The Darkness have been the subject of a plethora of internet rumors regarding whether or not theyll be reuniting. But with a new website appearing online (theactualdarkness.com) that consists of a mysteriously floating, 70s-inflected band logo and not much else, save a few links to the bands other pages - it seems like those rumors might be true. The names of the band members also come up in searches for the web domain. Very interesting
Panic! at the Discos new album, Vices and Virtues has been moved up to a March 22 release date, prefaced by the bands first new single, The Ballad of Mona Lisa, which you may have already heard on internet radio. The set is the bands first new album in three years, was produced by Weezer collaborator Butch Walker and Neon Trees producer John Feldmann, and will be showcased on Conan OBriens new late night show on March 28
TV on the Radio are dropping their new set, Nine Types of Light, on April 12 on Interscope Records, with tunes including Will Do and Caffeinated Consciousness. After a landmark stop at Austins SXSW fest, the band will be performing a plethora of shows through the next few months, including stops in Providence, Rhode Island (4/15), Boston (4/16), Detroit (4/20 at St. Andrews Hall), Chicago (4/22 at the Metro), and Minneapolis (4/23 and 4/24)
MODERN ROCK LINK OF THE WEEK:

But if youre stateside and not able to catch those live shows, you can still get a sneak peek of Switchfoot working on their new songs via a behind-the-scenes clip the bands posted on their website; check it out at www.switchfoot.com
MINI MODERN BUZZ:

The Monkees will be celebrating their 45th (what?) anniversary as a band (well, sort of) with a UK tour kicking off this spring; Mickey Dolenz, Peter Tork, and the cute one Davy Jones will all be participating, with potential U.S. dates TBA
The Strokes have set April 1 as their live show date at NYCs Madison Square Garden, at which theyll be testing out songs from their brand new album, Angles
The 2011 T in the Park fest in Scotland has announced part of its roster for this year, which will include Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, Brandon Flowers, Crystal Castles, Blondie, Bright Eyes, and Weezer, among others
Radiohead guitar/instrument whiz Jonny Greenwood has been tapped to score the upcoming John C. Reilly film We Need to Talk About Kevin
U2 have reportedly been working with producer Danger Mouse during their current studio sessions for the next U2 album
And this weeks current new CD releases are ready for your purchase... James Blakes James Blake... Edwyn Collins Losing Sleep... Josh Kelleys Georgia Clay... Soundgardens Live on I-5... and The Strokes much-anticipated Angles... and thats the buzz for this weeks Modern Rock.
