A Chance to Make It Big
Sunny Country hosts local Texaco Country Showdown competition
Local singers and musicians will have a chance to make it big in the world of country music with the annual Texaco Country Showdown. This nation-wide search for the best is open to individuals and up to seven people per band.
On Saturday, Feb. 23, Sunny Country 101.9 (WLDR) will host the first regional round at Southside Hideout, located in Buckley. Winners will then move on and compete at Outlaws in Kalkaska, March 2, then at the main event at Leelanau Sands Showroom, in Peshawbestown, on March 23.
Sunny Country is one of 10 radio stations in Michigan to host the competition.
"The benefits to winning this competition is huge," said Gary Taylor of Sunny Country. "The winner from the state goes to Nashville for $100,000 and a recording contract."
Registration is $25 with entry forms available at WLDR, Southside Hideout and Outlaws Bar. Competition at Southside Hideout starts at 8 p.m., this Saturday.
