More About Kachadurian Columnist Tom Kachadurian’s recent fit to slash out at the world of science and scientists is just another example of his profound ignorance and shallowness...

Love Wins Wow! Donald Trump scares me! He is a nasty individual who has the one thing that makes him dangerous…money! If he becomes president, the U.S. will be completely destroyed. It is already in serious trouble...

The New Normal Fifty more gunned down. They say it was a gay bar. Remember “saloons” had a connotation of a specific “type” of entertainment. Today, bars are simply social meeting places for all walks of life...

Sugar buzz in our schools: Too much sugar is bad. Too much of the alternative is worse.

Because my kid’s public school (Glen Lake) doesn’t allow sodas, I naively thought most schools followed that trend. Unfortunately, while attending a district finals basketball game at Traverse City Central I was a bit surprised to find a bank of soda machines in the school cafeteria. Surprise turned to concern when I noticed they contained only diet sodas, water and sports drinks. Pepsi Next, which boasts 60% less sugar, quickly caught my attention. Guess what’s in it...

However, the recent article by Rick Coates where he trashes Scott Weiland’s performance at Ground Zero leaves me so compelled...

Approved, adopted and provided by who? The people of Benzie County didn’t know anything about this until it became enforceable law on February 27, when it was published in the Record-Patriot...

Student Style

Features Kristi Kates It’s the age-old debate: do school uniforms make students focus on “the right stuff,” or are they meaningless yet expensive? While mostly associated with private and parochial schools, 19 percent of public schools now require students to wear uniforms, according to the National Center for Education Statistics (U.

The Tax Code Blues

Other Opinions Stephen Tuttle According to the presidential candidates, some people and corporations aren’t paying enough taxes. According to others, some people and corporations are paying too much in taxes. The only thing candidates, non-candidates and the rest of us agree on is the tax code is a complicated mess made ever more so year after year.
