Lookin Good?

Kara McConnell is this week’s on-the-spot fashion model for the Style page. A teacher at Glenn Loomis Elementary School in TC, Kara was in a casual dressy mood for her night on the town.
Watch for those roving Express cameras in the weeks ahead: we’re looking for Northern Michigan tastemakers in their natural element... you, perhaps?
Here’s what Kara is wearing and where it’s from:

• Hair (Impres Salon)..................................$?
• Earrings (made them herself).....................$?
• Scarf (Cali’s).......................................... $50
• Top (Backcountry Outfitters)......................$90
• Pants (Cali’s “Blue Dot”)...........................$98
• Shoes (Marshall Field’s “Franco Santo”).....$65

Total....................... $303

Sez‘ Who?
“What makes great art?”

On the scene at the grand opening of the
Art & Soul Gallery in downtown TC last Friday...

Jil:I do.
(Jil Johnson’s paintings are currently on exhibit at
Art & Soul,
and she do.)

Mike:
Attention.
Ron: Humanity.

Melanie:
Great art communicates something. People don’t
have to like what it says,
but it does say
something.

Sony Ericsson z500 phone -- $360

Released last week, the Sony Ericsson z500 is the perfect clamshell phone for those with too much time on their hands. In addition to downloading MP3’s, streaming audio and doubling as a video camera, the z500 allows you to download 30 Java-powered games (sample: “Real Tennis”) from its online “Fun & Downloads” site. You can even play with multiple players anywhere on earth.
One thing Sony Ericsson hasn’t done too well, however, is making it clear how much the phone will cost; there’s confusion all over the Net among would-be buyers. The best we can tell is that with rebates you should be able to knock $175 off the retail price.
