Come from Away at the Garden Theater

The Garden Theater in Frankfort will host its first musical performance this weekend! Sept. 11-14, in remembrance of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the Benzie County Players take the stage for their rendition of Come from Away. The Broadway musical is based on the true story of 38 diverted planes that were forced to land at Gander International Airport in Newfoundland when airspace closed that fateful day. Suddenly, nearly 7,000 passengers were stranded—many of them without luggage or any friends or family nearby. The Canadian town with a population smaller than the City of Traverse City managed to keep them all housed and fed during the traumatic time, creating a bright spot in the midst of the darkness.
