Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra Turns 25

The Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra (GLCO) has reached a quarter of a century performing in northern Michigan. The Petoskey-based ensemble was founded in 2000 with a goal of bringing together local musicians and supporting the development of youth orchestra. Fast-forward to 2025, and GLCO is gearing up for a big and busy season. The opening concert will feature Beethoven’s Eroica at Bay View on Sept. 6 ($35-$65). Other Mainstage Series concerts include a Fall Color Tour to explore color in music and painting; Violins of Hope to tell the story of a violin recovered from a concentration camp; and Lights, Camera, Music to tie in with award-winning films. Messiah by Candlelight and Family Holiday Pops will shine in the holiday season. And, for the pièce de résistance, GLCO will make its debut at the famous Carnegie Hall in June 2026.
