More Pickleball in Beulah
Stuff We Love
A grassroots nonprofit called Support the Courts—which has joined forces with Beulah Boosters—is working to raise funds to restore and expand the Village Park pickleball courts. The courts were not originally built for the fastest-growing sport in America: in fact, folks are playing on tennis courts and what used to be half a basketball court. Support the Courts’ mission is to remove and rebuild the existing (and deteriorating) dedicated courts, then to build or upgrade more space to play both pickleball and tennis in the future. For phase one of the project, they are raising $140,000, which includes a $10,000 matching challenge to drive community support. According to the nonprofit’s website, the courts at Village Park draw over 1,500 players every year, and upgrades at Northway Park are also on their to-do list.
