Swimming Lake Charlevoix
Stuff We Love
Could you swim 14 miles? (Neither could we.) But Kathy Bradshaw, a native Michigander now living in Tennessee, is taking the plunge on July 24 to swim Lake Charlevoix from one end to the other…about 14 miles. Though she’s a veteran open water swimmer, this will be the longest swim Bradshaw has ever attempted. Here’s how her journey will go: At 7:30am, she’ll begin in Round Lake, then make her way southeast along the shore until she reaches Boyne City in the late afternoon. (Weather and conditions could require swimming in the opposite direction, so cross your fingers for smooth sailing!) Bradshaw is expecting to be in the water for about eight hours, with a support crew aboard a boat and kayaks. Now, you must be wondering, why undertake such an adventure? Bradshaw is hoping to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association via her fundraiser at https://alzm.org/fquzj.
