Tastemakers: Hergie‘s Hot Wings -Warsteiner Premium Verum
Hergies In Kahootz Hot WingsIts the Big Game and that requires big time food, big screen TVs and big brews. Those Super Bowl amenities all can be found at Hergies In Kahootz on State Street in Traverse City. Since they opened last fall In Kahootz has quickly become a favorite watering hole for sports buffs and people simply looking to make the scene. With large flat screens spread throughout, In Kahootz is the perfect setting to watch multiple sporting events, while conversing and soaking up the suds. But this weekend only one channel needs to be on as the Steelers and Seahawks do battle to determine who will hold the Super Bowl XL trophy. An important staple to any Super Bowl gathering are the coveted chicken wings, especially hot wings. In Kahootz has mastered this football-cold beer required finger food. The hot wings are lightly sauced but have plenty of zip. While too many restaurants serve some watered down version of a blue cheese dressing, Kahootzs blue cheese is the real deal, thick and chunky. Equally impressive is the service. During a recent visit (the AFC Championship game) the place was packed (Steelers fans 20 to 1) and bartenders and wait staff were quick on their feet, smiling and friendly. So with the Super Bowl on this Sunday, In Kahootz is putting a focus on the game versus a lot of pomp and circumstance. While no formal party is planned, hardcore football lovers will be on hand and plenty of game time excitement and intensity will abound. Door prizes such as footballs, jerseys and even a couple of televisions will be given away throughout the evening, but for the fan it really is about the game, and this is sure to be a great one. So if you are not looking for a formal Super Bowl Party, In Kahootz is your place. If you are friendless, no worries, get a double order of hot wings (pictured) and a pitcher of beer, and your table will be full of great people in minutes. (no guarantees that these people will be your friends after the beer and wings are gone). A tip for Seahawks fansstay in the closet, this place is going to be rocking with Steelers fans and they are a wild bunch (just ask the kid who wore a Broncos jersey to school in Pennsylvania). Steelers 24 Seahawks 17.
WARSTEINER Premium Verum
“WAR STEINER, it sounds like the perfect brew for the Super Bowl after all, the game is shaping up to be quite the battle. WARSTEINER is brewed under Reinheitsgebot, better known to American beer lovers as the German Purity Law of 1516. Reinheitsgebot is the oldest established brewing law in the world, and at its foundation: The only ingredients to be used when brewing beer are Barley, Hops and Water. Now failure to follow resulted in some severe penalties, maybe not the death penalty, but close: Whosoever knowingly disregards or transgresses upon this ordinance shall be punished by the Court authorities. Now that is tough, like the Steelers defense. Warsteiner also has a lot of great weapons, like a thick creamy head. It is thirst-quenching and smooth with no bitter aftertaste and yet has plenty of hops. This beer scores a lot of points and sounds like the Seahawk offense. Brewed in Germany in the heart of the Arnsberger Forestpark (Arnesberg Forest Nature Park) outside of Warstein, WARSTEINER benefits from the regions forest spring water and renowned German hops. WARSTEINER pairs perfectly with any of the many Super Bowl delicacies such as hot wings, nachos and chili. Warsteiner is a tough pilsner. The Steelers are tough, but this brew is more offensive minded so it can handle the Hot Wing blitz or the 5-Alarm linebacker chili. WARSTEINER favors the Seahawks. Seattle 17 Pittsburgh 14. If you disagree check out TASTEMAKERS as Hot Wings are profiled and another prediction is offered. Regardless of the final score, this years Super Bowl is destined to be one of the greatest of all times and Ill toast to that with a WARSTEINER.
