Shady Lane’s 2025 Reserve Riesling
Bottoms Up
If you’ve ever dabbled in Michigan wine, you’ve almost certainly tried a late harvest Riesling— but we’re certain that you have yet to taste anything like Shady Lane’s 2025 Reserve version. Inspired by a fall trip to Germany, this tastebud-bender features estate-grown Riesling grapes picked at peak “late harvest” concentration and fermented dry. The result is a gorgeously complex white wine with the signature lush palette and caramelly notes—think: raw honey, citrus, and tropical fruit—that define similar styles, but minus the sweetness and with a touch of vibrant acid. Each sip is balanced, rich, a bit unexpected, and perfect for autumn in northern Michigan. Grab a glass at the Shady Lane Cellars tasting room starting in early September (9580 E Shady Ln., Suttons Bay), or check out their wine club to get in on the action early. shadylanecellars.com
