When you walk into Alanson’s Sweet & Savory Pie Company, be prepared to walk out with a stack of pastry boxes as high as your head. It was hard to choose just one to feature, but given the season, we went for the comfort food (with a twist!) of the Butter Chicken Curry Pot Pie ($15.95). Take all the cozy, filling warmth of a traditional chicken pot pie, and then level it up with the melt-in-your-mouth flavors of the classic Indian dish. We’re talking garam masala, a touch of heat from peppers and cumin, and just the right amount of garlic. Not spicy, just…savory! (It appears the shop is aptly named.) Now, of course, do we recommend you at least get a slice of something sweet while you’re there—perhaps the Peach Raspberry to remind you of warmer days.
