Wren’s First Twenty-Two
Bottoms Up
Like writer Ernest Hemingway, we’ve also been known to wax poetic about a truly great cocktail—and we could write an entire novel about the First Twenty-Two at Wren in Suttons Bay! Inspired by the first 22 summers of Hemingway’s life spent in northern Michigan, the drink began as a riff on his namesake daiquiri but omits the traditional rum in favor of house coconut-washed Pisco (Peruvian grape brandy) and the nutty-spiced notes of Velvet Falernum liqueur. Shaken with fresh lime and grapefruit juices and a squeeze of scratch-made orange syrup—and in a deliciously herbaceous twist, topped with a few spritzes of Chartreuse Vegetal—this summer sip is bright and citrusy with a subtly-indulgent depth.
