Becks Bringing Odelay BackIt may be over ten years old, but Becks classic Odelay album never seems to be a dated listen, given the Becksters forward-thinking musical nature - and now, Odelay is set for a special re-release next week on Geffen Records. The new edition of the disc will include all of the original Odelay tracks, plus previously unreleased outtakes Inferno and Gold Chains, plus Becks tune Deadweight from the motion picture soundtrack for the Ewan McGregor film A Life Less Ordinary. A second included disc will feature 16 import-only B-sides and remixes, including Burro, which is essentially a cover of Becks own Jackass sung in Spanish with an accompanying mariachi band...
Something old, and something new - hot on the heels of frontman Rivers Cuomos solo album, Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo. Weezers latest is on the way, too, and is set for hopeful release in April or May of this year. Weezers sixth set is being produced by Rick Rubin, with Cuomo calling the new songs dark and deep and beautiful. Theyre more experimental, too, with some of the songs being longer than the usual, and Weezers other band members taking more prominent roles, such as drummer Pat Wilson, who sings and plays lead guitar on one track while Cuomo handles drum duties...
UK modern rockers The Bravery have just embarked on their North American national tour, which began in Boulder, Colorado on January 16 and will continue until the end of February, including stops in Vancouver (1/24), San Diego (1/30), Las Vegas (1/31), Dallas (2/6), Toronto (2/12), and Detroit (2/13); opening act Switches will support. Speaking of Switches, following the big tour schedule, the band will make their way to Texas for this years SXSW event, where theyll play several showcases just in time for the March 18 release of their Interscope debut album, Lay Down the Law...
Ever wished youd seen The Jam live back in their heyday? Well, you... almost can. Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler, Jam founding members, will be teaming up with former Maximum High members Russell Hastings and Dave Moore for a tour trek beginning on January 24, the Jam members first live shows in the U.S. since they disbanded in 1982. The only catch? Um, therell be no appearances from Paul Weller, the Jams distinctive lead singer. The bands trying to make up for that fact by holding a contest at which fans can win a Waterstone Mod target Carnaby electric guitar signed by the guys - but a guitar cant fill in for the Godfather of Mod...
