Welcome to 2025! It’s time for the team at Northern Express to put together our annual list of Fascinating People from across northern Michigan—and we need your help! These 20 people are inspiring, curious, creative, and maybe even a little bit strange. They help make their communities brighter, more vibrant places to live. Last year, we featured a stage combat actor, an award-winning filmmaker, a peaceful protestor, and a cartographer. We also got to tell the stories of librarians, musicians, chefs, and artists who inspire the people they interact with every day.
