Parking, Roads, and Intersections: Week of Sept. 7

A few changes are headed to downtown Traverse City this week. First, in a win for locals, high-season parking rates are coming to an end. Between Sept. 7-11, the city will decrease parking rates in the Hardy and Old Town parking structures plus meters around town, and enforcement hours will return to 8am-6pm Monday-Saturday. Meanwhile, the city will also be undertaking a cape seal project Sept. 9-18 affecting sections of multiple streets in town including Front, State, Bay, Sixth, Hall, Union, Cass, and Eighth, plus Railroad and Hannah avenues and Quail Ridge/Huron Hills (see map above or visit traversecitymi.gov for details). Last but not least, all eyes are on the Three Mile/Hammond project as back to school looms. At the time of this printing, the Grand Traverse County Road Commssion has announced the intersection will not be open next week but instead by the end of September.
