They‘re on a Swirl in Petoskey

The Swirl the art of mixing great food, fantastic wine and live music in a spectacular setting is a new collaboration between the Crooked Tree Arts Center and Esperance, the Charlevoix store known for its gourmet food.Each month through May, patrons aged 21 and up are welcome to visit the arts centers galleries and experience the sounds and tastes of another culture.
The Swirls premiere took place on Monday, Feb. 19, as groups and singles of all ages gathered at bar tables in the art-filled surroundings of the Edith Gilbert Gallery, tasting wines, nibbling Spanish-inspired hors doeuvres and enjoying the sounds of a live trio.
Offerings such as Crostini con Berenjena (roasted eggplant dip), Las Papas Catalan, (tiny potatoes with garlic, paprika, sliced red pepper), and mild and spicy Chorizo (pork sausage) were available, as well as four Spanish wines hand selected by Esperance.
Pram and Suzanne Acharya, owners of Esperance, hosted the refreshments, along with their sons Kirk and Tim Tebeau, and Tims wife Carrie.
Upcoming Swirls will take place on Mondays: March 19, April 16 and May 7, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The March Swirl will feature Japanese food and drink, as well as music, origami and a sculpture design contest, in the tradition of the Iron Chef, for those wishing to participate. Visitors will get a look at area art students talent as the galleries will be filled with the vibrant works of the annual Youth Art Show.
Aprils Swirl will focus on Argentine food and wine Tebeau, who came up with the events name, just returned from a trip there with music and optional tango lessons.
The May Swirl will explore Italy and will incorporate an arts and culture scavenger hunt, as well as Italian-themed refreshments and music. Behind-the-scenes fine art photography of the Beatles will be on display.
So mark the dates and come alone to make new friends, or get a group together and explore the arts, while enjoying some of the best food and wine Northern Michigan has to offer.
