Tandem Ciders' Pomona
Bottoms Up
Nov. 25, 2023
Seeking the perfect holiday spirit? Look no further than the Pomona, aka “the goddess of the orchard,” from Tandem Ciders in Suttons Bay. This pommeau—a concoction hailing from northern France—is versatile, warming, and full of apple flavor to toast the season. Tandem distills brandy from a blend of their hard cider, then back-sweetens it with sweet cider before aging for four years in oak barrels. The result is a heady treat that can complement both the cheese board and the dessert tray at your next holiday party. (We recently tried ours with almond bars, and let’s just say the combo was out of this world.) As you’d expect from a pommeau, the ABV is at 17 percent, so keep in mind this is intended as a nice, slow sipper. Pick up a bottle ($30) at Tandem’s tasting room at 2055 N Setterbo Road in Suttons Bay or online at tandemciders.com.
