The Suspense is over for Interlochen‘s Summer Season

April 20, 2005
The annual guessing game of who’s playing when at Interlochen this summer was resolved last week with the announcement of a season that’s heavy on classical and
country/bluegrass acts with a smattering of old favorites.
New faces this season include Steve Winwood, Lou Rawls and Pat Benatar, among others. Returning for encore performances from years past are Bobby McFerrin, Jewel, Alison Krauss, Pilobolus Dance Theatre, Gordon Lightfoot and a number of classical acts. Heavy hitters include Aretha Franklin and Clay Aiken of “American Idol” fame.
“We’ve really listened to our patrons, and the result is one of the strongest and most well-rounded lineups in years,” said Jeffrey Kimpton, president of Interlochen Center for the Arts. “Plus, we’ve taken a fresh look at everything from food to pre-concert entertainment, so a trip to Interlochen is more than just to see a show – it’s a one-of-a-kind experience.”
