Coral plans Invisible Invasion
UK rockers the Coral are in the process of releasing their fourth album, which was available overseas on May 23, but won’t hit U.S. shores until late August. Dubbed The Invisible Invasion, the disc - produced by Portishead’s Geoff Barrow and Adrian Utley - will be prefaced by the first single “In the Morning.” The Coral will be previewing the new tunes to American audiences with a short U.S. tour in June, which will include live performances at venues in Toronto (6/7), New York (6/9), and Chicago (June 11)...
Pete Yorn is hard at work on his third studio album, and he’s got plenty of time to keep working on it, as the disc isn’t expected to hit stores until fall. Yorn has already recorded 24 songs for the project, but has yet to pare the songs down, although he plans to; sorry, Yorn fans, no double album this time around. There are, however, a number of interesting guest performers on this album, including pianist Leon Russell, The Wallflowers’ Rami Jaffee, Beachwood Sparks’ Dave Scher, Foo Fighter Dave Grohl on drums, and the Dixie Chicks...
Ben Folds and Rufus Wainwright have teamed up for a double trouble co-headlining tour that will see the talented guys hop on the tour bus in early August, and will keep them on the road for three weeks or so. Tour stops will include Brooklyn, NY (8/4), Boston (8/5), Toronto (8/9), and Chicago’s Ravinia Festival on August 10. Titled “The Odd Men Out Tour,” Folds is utilizing the live dates to promote his newest album, Songs for Silverman, which is his first full-length studio album since 2001, while Wainwright’s latest offering is Want Two, which was released last fall. Ben Lee will open for the guys on several dates TBA...
The Rolling Stones have rolled out plans for their finally-confirmed 2005-2006 world tour, with the American leg set to launch on August 21, in Boston, wrapping up on December 1, in Houston, Texas. The live shows are part of the Stones’ master plan to support their new, as-yet-untitled album, for which they have yet to announce a release date; another set of U.S. tour dates, however, are expected to surface in early 2006. The Stones, currently in rehearsals in Toronto, will play a mix of stadiums, arenas, and clubs, with tickets being priced in the “what?!” range - meaning you’ll have to shell out $50 for a club show and up to $110 for an arena show. U.S. stops will include Detroit (8/31), Chicago (9/10), Toronto (9/26), Washington (10/3), Seattle (10/30), San Diego (11/11), and Denver (11/24); the tour is also expected to hit Europe, the Far East, and South America...
