Old Growth Forests in Leelanau
By Jamie Kauffold | June 6, 2026
Learn about present day old-growth forests in northern Michigan. The Leelanau Conservancy manages two of these sites: Palmer Woods Forest Reserve and Kehl Lake Natural Area. Director of Natural Areas and Preserves Becky Hill will share how the conservancy protects the diverse ecosystems and critical habitat in which these ancients live. This free program runs Saturday, June 13, at 1pm in Glen Arbor Arts Center’s (GAAC) Main Gallery, and ties in with GAAC’s exhibit “American Tree.” glenarborart.org
