This Wednesday, Nov. 11, we honor the veterans of the United States Armed Forces, the same day many other countries observe Armistice Day or Remembrance Day as reminders of the conclusion of World War I. Towns across northern Michigan will offer events throughout the week. In Traverse City, Northwestern Michigan College will hold the 51st annual Mariners Memorial Service on Nov. 10 at noon at the Great Lakes Maritime Academy, followed by a Veterans Day Tribute on Nov. 11. In Bay Harbor, Great Lakes Center for the Arts will show Saving Private Ryan on Nov. 11 at 7pm. Petoskey’s Odawa Casino is set to host a Veterans Breakfast on Nov. 11 from 7:30-11am. Check with your local Veterans Affairs or VFW for more events.
