When Berry Gordy decided to take total control of his songs on January 12, 1959, he borrowed $800 from his family’s loan fund to start his own record label, called Tamla. Eventually this became Motown. Featuring 8 of Gordy's greatest artists in one night, from the Supremes to the Temptations! From Marvin Gaye & Tammy Terrell to Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, to name a few!
