New Habitat Homes Coming to Kalkaska
Stuff We Love
May 2, 2026
On Tuesday, May 5, Habitat for Humanity - Grand Traverse Region will break ground on an eight-home project in Kalkaska. Dubbed the Court Street Station due to its location on Court St. between Lynn and Elm, the buildout will follow a similar model to what Habitat has done in Traverse City, with eight townhomes in two units. They’ll have three bedrooms, one-and-a-half baths, and an attached garage. One of the key elements of affordability for the project is that each “homeowner’s monthly mortgage payment, including taxes and insurance, will be no more than 30% of their monthly income,” per Habitat’s press release. Occupancy is expected to start by fall 2026. Members of the Habitat team will be on-site to talk about homeownership, volunteering, and other opportunities with the organization.
