SPRING 2012 FASHION
Bring on this spring with bright colors.
As the weather warms, add a burst of personality to your closet with brilliant prints, vivid jeans, and bold color-blocked dresses.
Here are just a few ways to have fun with this season’s most wearable fashions.
BRIGHT COLORS
This spring is saturated with color, so, stock up! A few new brightly toned items can vamp up a wardrobe. Think luscious reds, heart-stopping blues, and creamy mint.
Feeling even more adventurous? Go with a high voltage neon.
The hottest shade this season? Two words; Tangerine Tango. This color pops! According to the Pantone Color Institute, this year’s it-color for spring is Tangerine Tango.
Expect to see this glamorous hue in various silhouettes, from a flowing cocktail dress to a mini shoulder strapped handbag. It is flattering to most skin tones and the perfect color to transition from spring to summer.
COLOR-BLOCKING
Bring a burst of energy to a wardrobe with solid staples. It’s called Color-Blocking and is one of the season’s hottest trends. It is loud, bold, intense, and screams spring fashion. Color-blocking consists of mixing solid color combinations, wearing more than one color at once.
The feel is easily created through simple wardrobe staples. Make a statement with an electric pop of teal, purple, red, and yellow. Throw on a solid pink top with a pair of red pants or a mint blazer belted with a pleated orange skirt. The idea is simple yet refined.
To avoid looking like a rainbow, stick to a combination of three colors or less. Extend the possibilities by mixing and matching items to create different variations. Top it off by throwing on a pair of heels or chic pair of sunglasses.{::PAGEBREAK::}
VIBRANT JEANS
Colorful denim is an extension of the color-blocking trend that cannot be overlooked. For those who are going to splurge on only one item this spring make it a pair of colorful skinny jeans.
Even in brilliant hues, the tailored denim is still low-key. And don’t be afraid of going bold.
"I couldn’t be more excited about colored jeans being back in style," said MacKenzie Bickel of Traverse City, who just purchased a pair of green tailored denim jeans.
"Without a doubt, they’ll be a staple piece for my color-blocking styles or just a statement for the simplest of outfits."
Edgy Prints & Shapes
Take the bright trend a step further with colorful yet edgy prints. These fabrics encompass stylish prints including chevrons, florals, geometric shapes, and futuristic patterns.
"Colored prints are flooding the fashion world right now," said Bickel. "Whether it be a hand bag, dress, or an eye catching top, the print allows me to show a little personality in my everyday wear."
Look for feminine dresses in this season’s high-low hemline silhouette which has a high cut front hemline with a lower cut back hemline. The lightweight look is whimsical and flattering on most body types.
PASTEL HUES
Feeling more beautiful than bold? This spring’s sweet pastels are shades of sky, sorbets, and mint.
Their feminine appeal is low key and comes in light weight fabrics, perfect for the day or night.
Pastel needn’t mean boring. Soft shades and creamy neutrals feel flirty when paired with wispy fabrics and pleats. Looking chic never felt so good!
