Okay, it’s winter and it’s cold outside. Whaddya gonna’ do? How about fighting the brutal 1944 Battle of the Bulge in the comfort of your living room with “Call of Duty: United Offensive.”
Part of a series of WWII video games from Aspyr Media, “Call of Duty” puts you in the forests surrounding Bastogne in northern France with the 101st Airborne, slugging it out with the Krauts in tanks, jeeps and motorcycles. If that gets tiresome, you can shift the action to the gunner’s hub in a British B-17 bomber, shooting down German ME-109’s over Sicily. Or, take a Russian vacation to the Battle of Kursk, one of the greatest tank battles ever.
The “Call of Duty” series offers realistic graphics and battle sequences from throughout the European theater of the war, with extra goodies such as “Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons” that offers weapons that were on the drawing board at the time, but never made it into combat.
