Interlochen’s Community Art Trail Underway
Oct. 24, 2026
This fall, Interlochen began work on the Interlochen Community Art Trail, a 3.5-mile “non-motorized trail connecting parks, schools, campgrounds, neighborhoods, businesses, and cultural destinations throughout Interlochen,” per a press release from Interlochen Center for the Arts. The first phase included the construction and paving of a segment from Green Lake Township Memorial Park to Vagabond Rd., which was completed in late September. The portion of phase two (Interlochen State Park to the Betsie River) that is under contract is expected to be done by Nov. 15. Future phases to complete the trail are dependent on additional funding, as the project is expected to top $3 million. The trail is supported by a variety of local organizations, including Interlochen Downtown Development Authority, Green Lake Township, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and Friends of the Interlochen Community Art Trail.
