Making the Most of Mother’s Day
May 2, 2026
That’s right, folks. Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 10, which means it’s time to figure out how you want to celebrate the mom, grandma, or other maternal person in your life. We always like to come up with fun activities that aren’t the standard brunch and flowers, so here are two out-of-the-box activities this week. 1) A spring wildflower hike with the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy at Arcadia Dunes, Pete’s Woods Trailhead. From 10am-2pm on May 6, take a 1.5-mile hike and literally stop to smell the roses—err, trilliums. Free, but registration required at gtrlc.org/recreation-events/events. 2) Head to Surfaces in downtown TC on May 10 from 2-5pm for a silversmithing workshop, where you’ll learn to make sterling silver hoop earrings for mom. The $85 ticket covers the class and materials; sign up at surfacesartsupplies.com.
