Pathfinder’s Celebration of MLK Day

For 10 years, the Pathfinder School in Traverse City has been honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. not by taking the day off but with an MLK Day of Service. This year, students across all grade levels will spend Monday, Jan. 19, giving back to their communities in big and small ways. The Early Childhood group will help collect food and pack lunches for Lunches for Love, while kindergarteners will visit residents at Orchard Creek Nursing Home. First graders will help out in the baby pantry at Leelanau Christian Neighbors; second and third graders will volunteer with Project Feed the Kids; and fourth graders will host a food drive at Oleson’s Food Markets. Meanwhile, the fifth graders will participate in preparing, serving, and dining with residents at Munson Manor. Last but not least, the middle schoolers will choose between sharing their time at a local soup kitchen, Cherryland Humane Society, or Food Rescue of Northwest Michigan.
