Peony Season in Bloom
June 20, 2026
Peonies are the ultimate summer bloom—big, fragrant showstoppers that bring some serious flower power to any bouquet or arrangement. The season in northern Michigan is intense, and the team at Inevitable Farm Peonies has been working hard from late May onward to nurture and collect all the pink, purple, and white flowers (in all, they grow about 15 varieties) that they can. After gardening together for years, downstaters Denise Samuels and Jim Lemire bought a farm on Leelanau Peninsula back in 2015, and during their first spring, they found about a thousand peonies on the property. Talk about inevitable! The farm, which sits a few miles outside downtown Traverse City and just down the road from Lakeview Hill Farm & Market, does a brisk business with florists, grocers, and restaurants—plus weddings and individuals. Put an order in while the peonies are blooming through mid to late July! inevitablefarm.com
