Stuff We Love: Dunes and Dogs
June 27, 2026
Last November, Lawrence (Larry) Boyd IV, a Traverse City parking services employee, was shot and killed on the job. But his friends and family are not letting tragedy have the last word and instead are coming together for a Dunes and Dogs memorial fundraiser on Thursday, July 2, in Glen Arbor. The event will celebrate some of Larry’s favorite passions, with a bike ride, kayaking adventures, a scavenger hunt, and even a dog costume contest. Proceeds of the event will benefit the Great Lakes Humane Society and Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes. The celebration begins at 11am, with check-in for the pups at Township Park at 1pm, and goes until 4pm. The requested donation to participate in the bike ride is $30 (includes event t-shirt) and $20 for the dog walk/parade (includes custom bandana). Keep up to date on the latest by searching “Larry’s Dunes and Dogs” on Facebook for the event page.
