Vasa "Trailblazing Tomorrow" Starts Phase One
May 23, 2026
This month, TART Trails and Northern Michigan Mountain Bike Association (NMMBA) broke ground on phase one of their “Trailblazing Tomorrow” investment in the Vasa trail network. This starts with a trail maintenance facility at Timber Ridge RV & Recreation Resort, which will be called the Vasa TimBarn. TART CEO Julie Clark noted in a press release that the facility will be a “home base” that provides “the ideal location to expand four-season trail care, strengthen winter grooming operations, and better support the volunteers and staff who steward these trails.” The campaign, which has a goal of $1.9 million ($1.75 million of which has been raised), will also include a trailhead revitalization at Bartlett Road. The TimBarn opening and ribbon cutting is expected in fall 2026, while the Bartlett project will get underway in 2027. To learn more, visit traversetrails.org/trailblazing-tomorrow.
