Tastemakers: Seger Salmon - Good harbor Moonstruck

TastemakersGrilled Smoked Seger Salmon
w/ Deep Fried Seaweed
Bob Seger looks and sounds like a meat & potatoes kind of guy. He probably is. However, if you are planning a Seger dinner party, try salmon. Salmon is one of the most adaptable entrées and among the easiest to prepare. Salmon also pairs best overall with the Seger songbook. Start your grill and throw a few handfuls of moist apple and cherry smoking chips onto the coals.
Here is a secret: place the salmon filets in tinfoil, season with a blend of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh cilantro, oregano, garlic, black pepper and sea salt. Place slices of onion and lemon on top, seal and place on grill. Grill over medium heat for about three minutes each side and then remove salmon from the foil and place it back on the grill for a few minutes on each side until done. This will add a nice smoky-grilled flavor. Top salmon with deep fried seaweed and place over roasted leaks and a warmed aioli sauce. Serve with Good Harbors Moonstruck sparkling wine. Put on Night Moves, sit down and enjoy.

Good Harbor Moonstruck
A Toast to Seger
Bob Seger has proven that like fine wine he only gets better with age. So the next time you pull out some vintage Seger, pair it up with Moonstruck from Good Harbor. This sparkling wine is a blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir from the vineyards of winemaker Bruce Simpson on the Leelanau Peninsula. Moonstruck is made in the French méthode champenoise tradition of aging en triage for 18 months and then finished off in a Brut style. So this dry sparkler holds up to such classics as Get Out Of Denver and Turn The Page while pairing nicely with the new tunes like Are You and Wreck This Heart. Moonstruck took home top honors in 2005 as the Best Sparkling Wine at the Michigan State Fair Competition. For Seger fans there is much to celebrate with the rockers return to the scene. In 2004 Seger was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and a couple months ago he released his long-awaited new album Face The Promise. Now Seger is back on the road, so that is definitely worth toasting. The chances of Seger performing in Northern Michigan are pretty slim -- we lack a venue -- as he last performed in these parts 26 years ago at Castle Farms. Before that, he played at the Tanz Haus in the late 60s and early 70s. Next year the Mackinac Bridge celebrates its 50th anniversary. In his interview Seger reflected on his fondness for the bridge and stated he and his family hope to do the bridge walk in 2007. Mackinaw City might want to give him a call because after the walk, he might be up for performing a few songs, maybe even more. Seger performing outside with the Mackinac Bridge as a backdrop: now that is definitely worth toasting.
