Streaming for Audioslave

May 18, 2005
Like Audioslave? Want some free stuff? Then start by helping the band out - if you go to www.audioslave.com/download and take a listen to the stream of their new single, “Your Time Has Come,” you might get to download the song gratis - once one million Audioslave fans have accessed the streaming song, it’ll magically turn into a free download, so tell all your friends. The new Audioslave album, Out of Exile, is due out on May 24, and lead singer Chris Cornell claims it’s “...one of the best rock records ever...” so we’ll see if he and his band live up to that claim...

Also on May 24, The Get Up Kids - well, their label, anyway - are prepping to release their final album (the band threw in the towel this past March), which will be called Live at The Granada Theater. The 18 track disc - which will include versions of such Get Up Kids songs as “The One You Want,” “Ten Minutes,” “Is There A Way Out,” “Mass Pike,” “Coming Clean,” and “Stay Gone,” is being put out as a kind of overview of the band’s ten-year career, and was recorded in Lawrence, Kansas...

Australian modern pop songstress Kylie Minogue’s clothes are currently touring Australia (yes, you read that right) in a special exhibition as organized by The Arts Centre of Melbourne. The exhibit features over 300 of Kylie’s costumes from her career to date in music and film, including tour costumes, film costumes, and even the dress from her most recent video, “I Believe In You.” A whopping 300,000 fans have already viewed the collection, and the whole shebang will hit the road to Canberra, Brisbane, and Sydney before being taken overseas to be exhibited there before it returns to its home base in Melbourne...

And Chicago modern rockers OK Go have wrapped recording and mixing and will now release their sophomore album, Oh No, later this summer on Capitol Records. Recorded by Tore Johansson (Franz Ferdinand) and mixed by Dave Sardy (Jet, Hot Hot Heat), the album is already poised to become a Heatseekers chartlister, much like the band’s debut disc was. To help promote their new tunes, OK Go will be hitting the road on May 25 with fellow buzz band Kaiser Chiefs, and will make stops in the likes of Toronto (5/29), their hometown of Chicago (5/31), Minneapolis (6/1), and Hollywood, California (6/11)...

MINI BUZZ:
Duran Duran are returning to the U.S. for another set of North American tour dates to promote their current album, Astronaut - the guys will be performing live shows in Orlando FL (7/18), Indianapolis (7/24), Dayton OH (7/26), and Pittsburgh PA (8/2), among others...
Former The Clash member Mick Jones has teamed up with ex-Generation X member Tony James to form the group Carbon/Silicon, which will debut at an upcoming tour fest sponsored by Brit music mag MOJO...
Queen are due to embark on their first UK tour in 19 years, with former Free singer Paul Rodgers taking over singing duties...
The Black Crowes’ original drummer, Steve Gorman, has reportedly rejoined the band and will continue with them for the rest of their current 20-city tour...
Jewel is getting ready to go back into the recording studio with producer Rob Cavallo (Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day) to begin work on her sixth studio album...
And the Rumor Mill is buzzing with news that Bob Geldof - who headed up the famed Live Aid concert in the ‘80s - is planning another entertainment spectacular to be called “Live Eight,” a Third World poverty benefit that may feature the likes of U2 and The Rolling Stones - we’ll keep an eye on that one for you...

Meanwhile, here are this week’s new releases... ON CD: the much-anticipated latest from Weezer, titled Make Believe... Dave Matthews Band’s Stand Up... Frank Sinatra’s Live from the Golden Nugget... Spoon’s Gimme Fiction... Lucinda Williams’ Live at The Fillmore... and John Digweed’s Choice: Collection of Classics... ON DVD: Brian Wilson Presents SMiLE... Miles Davis’ Cool Jazz Sound...
