Coldplay will rock in the New YearIt‘s still three weeks away, but New Year‘s Eve plans are already shaping
up for the music industry - most notably with a triple threat of television
specials hosted by, of course, none other than Dick Clark. The primetime
event, starting at 10 p.m., will feature footage from Coldplay and John
Mayer, among others, while Dick Clark‘s Rockin‘ New Year‘s Eve parts one and
two will showcase performances from Third Eye Blind, B2K, Uncle Kracker, and
Elliott...
Ex-The Verve bassist Simon Jones may have taken some time off after The Verve
disbanded in 1999, but his back and raring to go with a new band, dubbed The
Shining, which he shares with singer Duncan Baxter, guitarist Dan MacBean,
drummer Mark Heaney, and fellow former Verve-er guitarist/keyboardist Simon
Tong. The band‘s debut disc, *True Skies,* features an impressive mix of
rock, psychedelia, and funk, and was produced by Youth, who worked on The
Verve‘s final album, 1997‘s *Urban Hymns*...
Mull Historial Society have finally wrapped work on their latest album, the
follow up to their critically-acclaimed disc *Loss.* Recorded in Scotland
over the first half of the past year, Mull‘s *US* will include tracks “Am I
Wrong,“ “The Supermarket Strikes Back,“ “Clones,“ “Don‘t Take Your Love Away
From Me,“ and the disc‘s first single, “The Final Arrears“ - look for *US* in
stores February 18th...
A darker feel and a lean towards more rock are what reportedly mark the next
Everclear album, the first since their dual release of *Songs From An
American Movie, Volume One: Learning to Smile* and *Songs From An American
Movie, Volume Two: Good Time For a Bad Attitude.* The Cali band have marked
March 11th, 2002 as the release date for *Slowmotion Daydream,* with the
first single expected to be “Volvo Driving Soccer Mom,“ which the band has
already filmed the video for with director Francis Lawrence; they‘re also
planning a series of tour dates in support of the new album to begin next
April...
And Los Angeles radio station KROQ is once again putting on their
much-anticipated 13th Annual Almost Acoustic Christmas show on December 7th
and 8th in L.A. - artists expected to play include Sum 41, Queens of the
Stone Age, Coldplay, Beck, Flaming Lips, Jack Johnson, Dashboard Confession,
Saturday Night Live‘s Jimmy Fallon, Billy Corgan‘s new band Zwan, and the
live debut of the Chris Cornell/Rage Against the Machine project
Audioslave...
