Meet The Beatles...in Petoskey

Eighty-four photographs, all featuring John, Paul, George and Ringo, yes, The Beatles, will be on exhibition at Crooked Tree Arts Center April 27 through July 8. The photos were shot in the early 1960s by LIFE photographer William Eppridge.
“Beatles: Backstage and Behind The Scenes” opens with a reception on Friday,
April 27 from 6-8 p.m. at the downtown Petoskey arts center.
Local Beatles aficionados will share pieces of their private collections during the first week or so of the exhibition. Visitors will find such memorabilia as concert tickets, signed record albums, and possibly most fascinating, the jukebox owned by John and Yoko Lennon. These items will be on exhibit for a short time.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
Several events are planned throughout the two-month exhibit to keep the thrill alive:
On Saturday, May 26 at 7 p.m., everyone is invited to watch Beatlemania unfold on episodes of The Ed Sullivan Show in the Ross Stoakes Theatre. Viewers are encouraged to come in 1960s Beatles costume. Prizes will be awarded.
The popular Crooked Tree Coffee at Ten series will offer two pair of Beatles related lectures. On June 14 at 7 p.m. and June 15 at 10 a.m., professor of music and Beatles aficionado Henry Gwiazda from Moorhead University in Minnesota will speak.
The following weekend, photographer Bill Eppridge will discuss his experiences photographing The Beatles in the early 1960s at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday June 21.
Rounding out the two-month exhibit is a performance by Shout! A Fantastic Tribute to the Fab Four, on stage at Crooked Tree Saturday, June 16 at 8p.m. All seats are $5. Tickets are on sale now at www.crookedtree.org, or call 231-347-4337, and at the art center.
“The Beatles: Backstage and Behind the Scenes” exhibit is open April 27 through early July. There is no charge to view the exhibit. Crooked Tree Arts Center is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Beginning Memorial Day Weekend, Crooked Tree will be open Sundays from Noon to 4:00 p.m. Call 231-347-4337 for more information.

Cherry Fest Announces Music Lineup
The National Cherry Festival is ready to rock this summer with a better-than-usual lineup of groups at the newly reconfigured festival stage on West Grand Traverse Bay. In addition to the following events, there will also be a day-long Battle of the Bands featuring local groups on Wednesday, July 11.
