Don‘t change term limits
I once had a professor tell me that no politician should be elected to office more than once.
His reasoning was if they aren’t smart enough to line their pockets in one term we sure don’t want them around for two terms.
If you give a politician two drinks at the well he will want three and so forth. They will never be happy with the limits we need to put on them.
Our federal government is a prime example of what you get when you give anyone power and no end to its use. I have heard the word trust used in the argument to remove term limits. If you know a politician you trust, please write a letter to the editor and tell us why. Also, tell me why they can’t get the job done in one term. We limit the highest office in our government to two terms.

No problem with
local concert scene
I’m joining those who’ve objected to your question, “Where are the Concerts?”
While I don’t have a venue to promote like Mr. Curths and Mr. Jenneman, I am a trained musician and an habitual concert attendee. And as such, I think your article represents your own lack of appreciation of a wider music culture that is abundant in Northern Michigan.
We are not all oriented toward the Modern Rock and ForePlay musicians; there are excellent jazz, regular Irish music sessions, fine chamber music, and a variety of talented folks who join together in social music-making, whether it’s folk, religious, or family-based.
In addition, Northern Michigan is home to a collection of professional musicians who are on the road part of the year playing bagpipes, piano, trumpet and bass and who are often found in local venues when they are at home.
One of the great joys of my life is finding music locally and enjoying the diverse sounds of Northern Michigan.
I wish the Northern Express would go on such treasure hunts as well.

‘War on Terror‘ lives on
Exactly when did that “Endless War On Terror” end (re: Random Thoughts, 12/28)? I don’t want to miss celebrating VT Day next year.
